Elastic Band to correct postural imbalances
GfM Elastic Band workouts
Once every three weeks we do one of our special workouts with the elastic band. It’s a total body session and is organized in: three rounds of steady elastic band exercises and three cardio rounds.
Circuit 1
Round I: Warm-up easy exercises with the elastic band’s help.
Round II: Cardio - Coordination. We set the elastic band on the floor as a line/ladder to follow and we do 8 exercises (30-60 seconds each).
Circuit 2
Round III: Upper Body Stability and Strength. We handle the elastic band and do at least 15 exercises of upper body pulling.
Round IV: Cardio - Stability. We set the elastic band on the floor like a bow (emoticon) and we jump back and forth, left and right for 4-5 minutes.
Circuit 3
Round V: Legs. We tie the elastic band over our knees or at our ankles and do strength and resistance leg exercises.
Round VI: Cardio - Lateral Coordination. Following the elastic band on the floor, we sweat while improving our side coordination.
Those two elastic band classes train our coordination and strength, and are both very challenging and fun.
The Elastic Band in the long run
Using these elastic or fabric bands to add tension or resistance during exercise makes it more difficult to do movements, and engages more muscles, which helps to build strength. That’s why GfM Pro-members (students who have been in the program for months with an established and busy active routine) can add the elastic band to other workouts. For example, during all the easy legs and butt exercises, the Pro members can wear the Elastic Band to increase the challenge. Research shows that strength gains from using elastic resistance bands are similar to training with dumbbells or weight machines, benefiting not only the average person but also benefiting athletes. Resistance-band training can even increase the stabilizer muscles to a greater extent than weight training. That’s another reason why the Elastic band became so important in the GfM program. Weights are much more expensive and bulky, while Elastic Band are more affordable and smaller, but if used correctly can serve the same function.
Correcting some bad habits
Giorgia fitMindset sports conditioning routine aims to break your limits, train hidden muscles, and show you a new way to work out. All of it with the main purpose of building an active lifestyle and a balanced and healthy body shape.
In our daily life we do a lot of pushing movements. We push the stroller, the grocery cart, doors, etc., but pulling movements are less frequent.
Having an imbalance between pulling and pushing can lead to back and neck pain.
The elastic band class with pulling movements helps train all the muscles that are hardly used during the day. Using the elastic band we can correct physical mistakes in our daily life that could lead to painful consequences!
