A Joyful Celebration

As the anticipation builds and the due date draws nearer, the excitement surrounding the arrival of a new member of the family intensifies.

Many friends and family members have been asking what we need for the new addition to our family. And truth be told, this time around, I find myself unsure of what exactly we need.

Reflecting on our current inventory of baby essentials, I take stock of what we already have: a bassinet and a crib, a changing table, a high chair, a bouncer, plastic bottles from Lily's (old but functional), a plug-in breast pump, and a breastfeeding pillow. While these items form a solid foundation, there are several crucial items that we still require.

We're in need of: (We got everything)

Despite my best efforts to plan ahead, I'm aware that we may forget something. That's why I'm incredibly grateful for the support of our friends and family, who can help us anticipate these needs by providing easy-peasy Amazon cards.

However, amidst the whirlwind of baby preparations, I find myself grappling with a different kind of fear—a fear of losing myself in the postpartum rabbit hole of survival duties. The relentless cycle of feeding, changing, eating, drinking, and repeating scares me so much, and I don’t want it to leave little room for self-care and destroy the enjoyment of this precious time with my growing family.

This time around, I'm determined to approach motherhood differently. I want to enjoy every moment with our new baby and my expanding crew, but I know that can only happen if I prioritize my own well-being. And for someone like me, who struggles to slow down and relax, this presents a significant challenge.

To carve out time for self-care between the chaos, I'm considering scheduling appointments for massages and pre-labor waxing (or everything that makes you relax, excited to try new selfcare activities) —little indulgences that can make a world of difference in maintaining my sanity and serenity. And for those moments when I need to escape into a world of imagination and distraction, a Kindle filled with a series of captivating books stands ready to bring me away.

Than you in advance for the love and support of those closest to us, I'm confident that we'll navigate this journey with happiness, serenity, and a deep sense of joy. Wish me luck ;)
